Meet the New Fellows!
The Venture Fellow Program is thrilled to announce its January 2022 cohort of fellows. As of this month, 80 fellows will be joining Alumni Ventures’ Venture Fellow Program (VFP), an educational and career acceleration program for early- to mid-career professionals who are interested in venture capital.
This includes four fellows joining Purple Arch Ventures, a venture fund for Northwestern alumni and friends of the community. Purple Arch Ventures is an alumni fund of Alumni Ventures.
Through the VFP, fellows gain practical and hands-on VC experience through Alumni Ventures’ VC 101 curriculum and working directly with their fund teams. Please find more information about our fellows, including details about those joining Purple Arch Ventures, below.
Our January 2022 Cohort
- Fellows come from all across the United States, living in 18 States and DC;
- 87% of fellows come from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in the VC industry:
- 45% identify as an underrepresented gender
- 78% identify as an underrepresented race
- 34% of fellows are first generation college graduates
- Fellows represent a wide variety of industries, fields of study, and educational and professional backgrounds!
Introducing our New Fellows
Rod Goodlow
Venture Fellow
Rod is a dedicated Philanthropist, Investor, and Financial Professional who has earned the reputation as an ambassador of positive change and community leader across Dallas, TX. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Learning and Organizational Change from Northwestern University: School of Education and Social Policy. Rod was also Student-Athlete for the two-time Big Ten champions Northwestern Wildcats. Currently, Rod serves as an Investment-Trading Specialist at Ally Financial, where he has cultivated several years of experience in investing, stock trading, and assets allocation.
Emilio Lehoucq
Venture Fellow
Emilio is a PhD candidate in sociology and MS candidate in statistics at Northwestern. He has expertise on how organizations use machine learning to solve problems and the market for AI solutions. More recently, Emilio has gained interest in cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and fintech. He is a co-founder and co-president of the Northwestern Graduate Investment Club.
Wendy Tan
Venture Fellow
Wendy is a seasoned business executive with 20+ years of professional experience with leading global consulting firms (PwC and Accenture) and Fortune 50 Companies (Walgreens Boots Alliance, CVS Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield). Her expertise and focus include corporate strategy and business development, merger & acquisition, innovation, product development and management, global business expansion (Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East), and others. She has substantial knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical and healthcare, retailing and distribution, and consumer goods industries. She has a proven track record of delivering results for business growth and building transformational initiatives and ventures for company expansion. Wendy received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and Bachelor of Finance and Economics from Peking University, China.
Susan Zhang
Venture Fellow
Susan is a current MBA candidate at Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management, where she also serves as the VP Community Engagement for the PEVC Conference. Prior to Kellogg, she was a Manager at a consulting firm in NYC. She's also a passionate Premier League fan and hosts a podcast called Soccer with Susan.
