Meet the New Fellows! 

The Venture Fellow Program is thrilled to announce its January 2022 cohort of fellows. As of this month, 80 fellows will be joining Alumni Ventures’ Venture Fellow Program (VFP), an educational and career acceleration program for early- to mid-career professionals who are interested in venture capital. 

This includes four fellows joining Waterman Ventures, a venture fund for Brown alumni and friends of the community.  Waterman Ventures is an alumni fund of Alumni Ventures

Through the VFP, fellows gain practical and hands-on VC experience through Alumni Ventures’ VC 101 curriculum and working directly with their fund teams. Please find more information about our fellows, including details about those joining Waterman Ventures, below.

 


 

Our January 2022 Cohort

  • Fellows come from all across the United States, living in 18 States and DC;
  • 87% of fellows come from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in the VC industry:  
    • 45% identify as an underrepresented gender
    • 78% identify as an underrepresented race
  • 34% of fellows are first generation college graduates
  • Fellows represent a wide variety of industries, fields of study, and educational and professional backgrounds!

Jenna Koo

Venture Fellow

Jenna is an Associate Product Manager at CharterUP, an online marketplace startup for large-scale transportations. Previously, she worked at an IoT based frontline operations platform startup in product and content marketing, and also worked on building a beer gifting app. Jenna's interest in VC stemmed from her passion for finding the quickest and most efficient paths to product-market fit and understanding what catalyzes growth. Through the fellowship, Jenna plans to learn more about early-stage investing, and connect with other like-minded fellows with similar interests.

Sudheesha Perera

Venture Fellow

Sudheesha is an MD-ScM candidate at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, pursuing a masters in Population Medicine alongside his medical degree. Before medical school he worked in quantitative finance as an Investment Engineer at Bridgewater Associates. He also has experience as a health informatics consultant at The Mae Tao Clinic in Mae Sot, Thailand, where he helped to develop digital solutions for low-resource healthcare settings. Sudheesha received his Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics-Computer Science from Brown University.

Teak Sittipunt

Venture Fellow

Teak is a growth strategist at a brand and innovation consultancy in New York City. In her work, she leverages cultural anthropology, storytelling, and empathic design to define high-impact solutions and opportunities for organizations navigating moments of inflection. She helps clients across categories—from food and fashion to internet services and government—create ambitious brands, services, products, and experiences. Teak graduated from Brown University in 2019 with a degree in Modern Culture and Media. In addition to her experience in strategy, she also worked in filmmaking as a director and producer.

Kyle Yamada

Venture Fellow

Kyle is a Test Engineer in the Omics and Analytical Chemistry at the leading synthetic biology company, Ginkgo Bioworks. Prior to his current position, Kyle performed research at an environmental engineering lab at Brown University, specializing in environmental remediation and mitigation technologies. Kyle's primary fields of interest are synthetic biology and climate tech, and especially the intersection of the two. Kyle graduated from Brown in 2017 with his Bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, then went on to complete a fifth-year Master's program in the same concentration.
